Thembisa dance crew takes township energy into music

Thembisa-based Endulwini crew has been nominated for Best Dance Group at the Mzanzi and Media Awards while expanding into music with its new amapiano-inspired song, Seku Late.

The Endulwini crew is taking its passion for dance beyond the streets of Thembisa after being nominated for best dance group at the Mzanzi and Media Awards.

The crew has also expanded its creative work into music with its latest amapiano-inspired song, Seku Late, produced by Beanmusiq.

The song celebrates dancing, township energy and the spirit of community, drawing inspiration from everyday life in Thembisa.

According to crew manager Vusi Qwabe, moving from dance performances into music was a natural progression for the group.

The song aims to capture the feeling of losing yourself in music and dancing, even when life presents challenges.

“That Seku Late feeling is the best when the beat drops and everyone forgets their problems. The message is simple: no matter what you are going through, don’t give up,” Qwabe said.

“It’s an invitation to come together, dance and celebrate life.”

The Mzanzi and Media Awards nomination has also been an important milestone for the group.
Qwabe said the recognition was a sign that the crew’s hard work was beginning to reach a wider audience.

“We were shocked and so grateful. It showed us that the hard work, mornings in the studio and dancing in the streets are being noticed,” he said.

“For us, it means our sound from Thembisa matters.”

The crew thanked the community and everyone who has supported its journey. They encouraged residents to continue backing local artists and performers.
