Good day, my name is Miguel Shane Ngomani, well-known as ‘Yung Savage’, an upcoming artist from Rabie Ridge. I have lived in Thembisa all my life.

My best or favourite memory of growing up in Thembisa is the sporting opportunities I had. I was a good basketball and soccer player.

My community is made up of self-driven individuals who don’t wait for governing bodies to help with day-to-day struggles. They help those in need and give back to poor and hardworking individuals.

Most of the time, I enjoyed going to the Rabie Ridge sports ground next to the police station. My favourite place to eat out is Pedros at Mall of Thembisa. The best moment was one of my performances at Rabie Ridge Hall. The smiles I gave people on that day made me very proud of my actions because not everyone has the same taste in music. This changed my entire view of life and my career.

The community doesn’t have many entertainment opportunities because youth face many barriers to getting real opportunities, including those in entertainment. But if the community could give more help to talented youth who want to work hard for themselves, the community would see a change from drugs and emotional pressure.

Nasty C created a movement in entertainment from a place where there were few or no opportunities, and he still made his community and people proud. This is the truth, because this community has many talented people who don’t progress because of the different situations they face daily.

My skill is making people hear sad, bad, and dark stories that change their minds through my songs and dances. Give the whole of Thembisa a chance to showcase their hidden potential and talents to the world, not just a small group of people.

Not giving up on my talents and dreams is advice my parents, grandparents, and my song producer, Black Skull, from Kaalfontein Ext 22, gave me.

Home means peace and safety to me. Thembisa is my home because of the life I’ve built and the friends and family around me. All the people I meet in my life are great and have a positive impact on others, which is what I call home.
