Maranatha Christian School learner tops national IEB rankings
Nikita Shaw became the first MCS learner to win all major academic trophies while earning top marks in multiple subjects in the 2025 IEB National Senior Certificate exams.
Nikita Shaw, a matric learner from Maranatha Christian School (MCS) in Kempton Park, has emerged as one of the top national performers in the 2025 Independent Examinations Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate examinations.
Shaw was named to the IEB Outstanding Achievement List, placing her in the top five per cent of all IEB candidates nationally in at least six subjects, while also achieving a Level 7 in Life Orientation.
Her national results include a perfect 100 per cent in business studies, as well as top 1 per cent rankings nationally in five subjects: Afrikaans first additional language, English home language, life sciences, mathematics and business studies.

In addition to her national achievements, Shaw made history at school level during Maranatha Christian School’s valedictory ceremony in October 2025, becoming the first learner in the school’s history to win every major academic trophy.
She received subject trophies for English, mathematics, Afrikaans, physical science, life sciences and business studies, and was named Overall Top Achiever for grades 10 to 12. She also achieved the highest average across these grades.
Shaw further received special book prizes for Best Creative Writing, Kreatiewe Skryfwerk and Life Orientation, highlighting her academic versatility across both sciences and languages.

Beyond academics, she demonstrated strong leadership qualities, serving as deputy head girl for the 2024/2025 term.
Maranatha Christian School praised Shaw’s achievements as a reflection of her consistent dedication, discipline and academic excellence, describing her results as a proud moment for both the school and the broader Kempton Park community.
Her success places her among the country’s top-performing IEB learners for 2025 and marks a significant milestone for Maranatha Christian School.
