PRELIMINARY NOTICE OF A CONCURRENT PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS FOR THE INTENTION TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION IN TERMS OF SECTION 24G OF NEMA (READ WITH NEM:WA) AND SECTION 22A NEMAQA FOR THE UNLAWFUL COMMENCEMENT AND CONTINUATION OF ACTIVITIES IDENTIFIED IN TERMS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT REGULATIONS. Notice is given in terms of Section 24G and Section 24(F) of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 and Section 22A of the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act 39 of 2004 that Ground Plastic (Pty) Ltd) is considering submitting applications for Environmental Authorisation (WML) and an Atmospheric Emission Licence in terms of S24G of NEMA (read with NEM:WA) and Section 22A (NEM:AQA) for the unlawful commencement of a Plastic Recycling facility that stores, sorts, shreds, washes, and treats plastic waste to produce pellets as their final product.
The activities commenced in July 2018 at 452 Bergvlei Road, Wadeville, Germiston Ward 39 within the Cit
y of Ekurhuleni, Gauteng Province. GPS Coordinates: Longitude: 28 11` 36.99`, Latitude: 26 13` 26.57`. NEM:WA (GN 921) Listed Activities: Category A (3): The recycling of general waste at a facility that has an operational area in excess of 500 m2, excluding recycling that 2 takes place as an integral part of an internal manufacturing process within the same premises.
Category A (6): The treatment of general waste using any form of treatment at a facility that has the capacity to process in excess of 10 tons but less than 100 tons per day calculated as a monthly average, excluding the treatment of organic waste using composting and any other organic waste treatment.
Category A (12): The construction of a facility for a waste management activity listed in Category A of this Schedule (not in isolation to associated waste management activity).
NEM:AQA (GN 893) Listed Activity: Category 8, (Subcategory 8.1): Thermal treatment of general and Hazardous waste.
Parties wishing to comment or to be registered as interested and affected parties are requested to forward their objections and comments (with reasons) no later than 30 days after the publication of this advertisement.
