LETTER: Resident raises concerns over poor service at Birchleigh North clinic
Another major problem is that we are told to go to other clinics because we do not live in the area. I was told to go to the Spartan clinic because I live in Kempton Park West, but it is the same distance to Birchleigh as it is to Spartan.
A Kempton Park West resident has raised concerns over alleged poor service and staff conduct at the Birchleigh North clinic.
The resident said they emailed a formal complaint to the facility, but no action was taken. According to the resident, clinic staff questioned them extensively during a recent visit for a throat condition.
“When they checked my throat, I was told it looked fine; it is just red,” the resident said. “I asked for an attendance letter and was asked why I wanted a letter when I came after noon.”

The resident questioned the facility’s service standards, citing ongoing visitor frustration.
The resident also raised concerns about catchment-area restrictions. The resident claimed staff directed patients to alternative facilities, including the Spartan clinic, based on their residential address.
“I was told to go to the Spartan clinic because I live in Kempton Park West, but it is the same distance to Birchleigh as it is to Spartan,” the resident said.
According to the resident, catchment rules were not previously enforced during four years of using the Birchleigh North clinic.
The resident added that other community members experienced similar treatment from clinic staff.
