IT was another wonderful weekend for the senior sides of Kempton Park Cricket Club.
Saturday was kicked off with another derby between the Kempton first A side and the C side.
The A side’s skipper, Brett Luck, won the toss and elected to bat, getting off to a flyer.
Some well disciplined bowling from the C side’s main strike bowler, Pieter Muller (3/25), restricted the A side to 182/5. Stars with the bat were Quintin van Wyk (64*) Brett Luck (60) and Jaco Bloem (36*).
The A side restricted the C side to 141/8 after being 70/0 after eight overs. The best batsmen for them were Floors Mynhardt (30) and Armandt van Tonder (33*).
Man of the match Van Wyk picked up 3/19 in his seven overs and Ruan Wilsenagh 3/17.
The renegades unfortunately went down by one wicket to Springs Old Boys in a thrilling encounter.
On Sunday the premier league side hosted Tembisa in a 50 over clash and recorded their fourth consecutive bonus point win by beating their rivals by 163 runs.
KPCC batted first and amassed a huge score of 340 all out in 48 overs.
Star performers with the bat were Easterns players and brothers, Wesley and Kyle Marshall, who contributed with 92 and 66 respectively.
Kempton reached their huge score with some lusty blows from middle order big hitting all-rounder, Clayton Ceronio, who bludgeoned the attack to all parts. He smashed five sixes and three boundaries to a 20-ball 48.
Kempton bowled Tembisa out for 178 inside 35 overs to secure the bonus point. Chief destroyers with the ball were off spinner Marius Lubbe (3/31) and leading wicket taker, Johan Fourie (3/51).
“it was a very satisfying victory but it is criminal to not bat your allotted overs when batting first,” said Fourie after the game.
Kempton now sit pretty at the top of the table a massive eight points ahead of rivals Benoni Northerns.
The Promotion side also completed their second successive bonus point win with a 6-wicket win over CBC.
CBC batted first and were skittled for a mere 99. Best bowlers were Jaco Bloem (3/11) and Gavin Ralph (2/9).
Kempton chased down the score within on 20 overs to secure the bonus point. Jayson Gough (35) and Dirk Pio (22) ensured that Kempton reached their target.
The chairmen’s league side took on Duduza in a 20/20 clash at Barnard B. Kempton batted first and scored 138/6.
Pick of the batsmen were Marcel Maré (38*) and Quintin van Wyk (34).
Duduza were restricted to 118/7. The best bowler was Mossie Mostert (3/18) in his four overs.
Juniors
The junior club’s sides had a good weekend with only the two U/8 B sides taking a hiding.
U/8A hosted Boksburg at home on a chilly Friday night. Boksburg batted first, scoring 79/5. Floors Mynhardt (1/2), Robyn Kamerman (1/4), Ethan Havinga (1/7) and Ian van Rhyn (1/3).
Kempton scored the winning runs (80/2) in the 20th over. Top batsmen were Ian van Rhyn (24*), Jarrod Kyle (12*), Joshua Shanker (8) and Aiden Patterson (5*).
U/8B1 played Vosloorus. Vosloorus scored 114/7. The best bowlers for Kempton were Matthew Caldwell (2/12) and Rihal Kissun (1/18).
Kempton were bowled out for 29. The top batsman was Callum Henderson (6) and man of the match went to Matthew Caldwell.
U/8B2 team played Avion at home on Saturday. Avion made 94/5 and Kempton 62/5. Avion won by 32 runs.
Best bowling went to Ethan Simpson (2/11) and Dino Ryan Binks (2/6). Batsmen performing were Jordan Southey (10*), JP du Plessis (7*) and Ethan Simpson (7).
U/10 super league beat Avion by 94 runs. Kempton batted first and scored 156/2 with Adam Rosslee making 67 and Devon Joyce 44.
Avion scored 62/7 with man of the match Jared Sandler, taking 3/7 and James Enslin 3/5.
Kempton U/12 super league beat Avion by 116 runs away from home on Saturday. Man of the match went to Jordan Barnard (88*).
Troy Kyle (33) and Nathanael de Swardt (18) contributed with the bat. Top bowlers were Judah Jones (2/5), Keanu Jardim (2/11) and Daniel Stoltz (2/16).
The U/14 super league side finally got a win, beating Kwa Thema. Great bowling by Ruan van Dyk (1/17), Stephanus Steyn (3/16), Nceba Matebula (1/7) and Dylan Botes (3/2).
Riccardo Meade (11*) and Quinton Fincham (21*) took the team home with the bat.
The U/16 team claimed their first victory against Tsakane. Kempton made 130/3 with top achievers Jayden Ford (45), Daniel de Villiers (2/11), Kevin Olivier (3/13) and Griffan Smith (2/15).
