‘Stix’ selected for Bok team

SANDILE Caleb Ngcobo, wing of the senior Valke team, was selected for the emerging Springbok sevens team.

To play this sport on Springbok level is an honour for Ngcobo, who is called Stix by his team mates.

He went to Stellenboch at the weekend where he joined the team that will participate in the Dubai Sevens at the end of the month and later in the IPL tournament in George.

He had been part of the Valke senior team for two seasons. His love for the sport of rugby started when he was seven years old.

At the age of 24 Ngcobo has big dreams, like playing for the senior SA sevens team.

He said he loved this type of rugby for its space, speed and time.

Originally from East Bank, Alexandra, he had been playing rugby since the age of seven and want to play as long as possible.

“You cannot coach speed,” he said.

He keeps fit and his body in top form with a lot of cross-training, body weight exercises and body building.

“I believe in working hard when others are resting,” he said.
