Pigeon club announces its winners

Arthur Renney received the stirrer prize

HANNES Maree and Jaco and Kiep van der Westhuizen won the respective divisions of Kosmos Pigeon Racing Club for 2013.

Maree was the all bird winner and the Van der Westhuizen team of father and son won the young bird division.

The club awarded its prizes on Saturday, November 16 at Coen Scholtz Community Centre.

Maree also won the open series for old birds, best middle distance, best long distance, single bird average classic and all bird average classic. The different races he won in the old bird division were races 14 Trompsburg 4, 16 Colesburg 2, 18 Colesburg 4, 30 Richmond 4 and 31 Three Sisters.

Van der Westhuizen also won trophies for best young bird, best single bird averages in both the old bird and single bird divisions, best all bird average for young birds, best single bird average combined and best all bird average combined. He also won individual races in the old bird division race 2 Winburg 2 and race 8 Bloemfontein 4. In the young bird division he won races15 Colesburg 1, 17 Colesburg 3, 19 Colesburg 5, 21 Hanover 1 and 23 Hanover 3.

Other top prizes were awarded to At and Lena Stander (best old bird in open), Deon Humphries (best in young bird/old bird series) and Silas and Liz Willis, called Si-Liz Willis (best short distance).

Other individual winners in the different races during 2013 in the old bird division were Kobus and Lucia Meintjies (race 4 Winburg 4), Si-Liz Willis (race 6 Bloemfontein 2), Dennis McCarthy of MacDee Lofts (race 10 Bloemfontein 6), Ertjies Noppe (race 12 Trompsburg 2, race 20 Colesburg 6), Peter Ramsay (race 22 Hanover 2), At and Lena Stander (race 24 Hanover 4, Race 26 Richmond 1), Hennie Aucamp (race 25 Hanover 5), Hans de Noon (race 28 Richmond 3), Deon Humphries (race 27 Richmond 2, race 29 Cradock) and André Kriel (race 32 Beaufort West).

Other young bird winners of the different races during the past season were Peter Ramsay (race 1 Winburg 1), Hans de Noon (race 3 Winburg 3, race 5 Bloemfontein 1), Lukas Klopper (race 7 Bloemfontein 3), Dennis McCarthy of MacDee Lofts (race 9 Bloemfontein 5, race 13 Trompsburg 3) and Johan Boshoff (race 11 Trompsburg 1).
