Aquatic swimmers do well at awards

VARIOUS swimmers of Aquatic Academy did well at the recent Eastern Gauteng Aquatics’ annual awards ceremony hosted by ESP Kempton Swimming Club.

Fourteen swimmers that have been training at Aquatic Academy this past season, did extremely well.

In the category Top 10 Provincial Swimmers, Murray Copeland was placed eighth and re-awarded his provincial colours. Jessica Burgess earned colours for both open water and competitive swimming.

Savannah Mitchell, Storm Ryder and Amber Trollope were all winners of their respective age groups and awarded provincial colours. Nicholas Smith won the top league performer and top age grouper male.

Listed below are the recipients from the academy that received Eastern Gauteng Awards.

Top age group performers: Phillipa Austin (8 and under), Amber Trollope (9-10), Storm Ryder (11-12), Savannah Mitchell (13-14), Nicholas Smith (15-16) and Danica Bellingan (17 and over).

Top league performer: Nicholas Smith.

Top level 1 regional swimmer: Kyle McKenzie.

Provincial colours (10 swimmers): Brooklynn Bohler, Jessica Burgess, Murray Copeland, Savannah Mitchell, Storm Ryder, Ashleigh Stock, Caitlin Stott, Amber Trollope, Jayden Trollope and Nadine Vorster.

EGA championship record: Jayden Trollope (200 breast).

Open water nationals: Jessica Burgess.

Robyn Smith received recognition as an inter-provincial team manager.

ESP Aquatics, which the Academy swimmers compete for, won the trophy for the top league club.
