Nailbite finish for Kempton Rugby Club’s first team

The juniors will start training on May 26 at 5.30pm

THE first team of Kempton Park Rugby Club went down 30-28 against Benoni in a home game in the Valke League on Saturday.Kempton started the game in command with some of the young gun 21 players helping out due to player injuries and work commitments of some senior players.

Despite an excellent first half, the second half saw some great play by Benoni. Kempton was halted on the front foot by bad discipline, which was uncalled for.

This let Benoni in to score to take the game.

“We cannot ignore this disruptive element if we are to win the Merlin League. We need to make changes now while it is still early in the season, AndrĂ© Hartley said.

Jaco Kritzinger, Ashley Fitzpatrick and Deon Jonker scored tries for Kempton. André Smit succeeded with two conversions and a penalty and Ryno Greyling with two penalties.

The second team lost 20-0.
