Liver Pool FC wins 2-1

LBB FC was defeated 2-1 in penalties against Liver Pool FC.

The two sides met in the finals of the top 8 soccer tournament, which was played at the Winnie Mandela Zone 6 Sports Grounds on Sunday.

Both teams were on the attack, but it was Liver Pool FC’s reliable striker Leaders Moatli who opened the scoring after 20 minutes.

He received a well-timed pass from the defender, Nkosinathi Zithebe.

The game was 1-0 at the break.

In the second half, LBB FC came back with a well-organised attack and scored their only goal through the striker Delta Moremi. He scored three minutes into the second half, equalising the score.

Liver Pool FC’s defender, Charles Mashele, was given a red card for remonstrating with the referee.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw, which lead to a penalty shootout.

Liver Pool FC managed to score one more goal during the penalty shootout, while LBB FC were unable to find the back of the net.

Liver Pool FC’s coach, Herans Mashele, said he was happy to win the tournament.

“I am proud of my team. It was a tough game, as both teams sought to dominate on the field. I was scared, especially in the second half when the scores were levelled. Otherwise it was a fair game. We were the defending the champions,” he said.
