Rock FC defeats Spain FC

A top eight soccer tournament was played at the Winnie Mandela, Zone 6 Sports Grounds on Sunday.

With R10 000 at stake, teams played hard to knock out their opponents and ensure they won the money.

Rock FC took on Spain FC in the finals of the tournament and Rock FC wasted no time searching for goal.

Midfielder Caswel Nkuna brought joy to his team and supporters when he scored in the first 20 minutes of the game.

Spain FC’s players provided some good passes and their striker was supplied with left wing crosses which looked threatening.

The score was 1-0 at the half time break.

In the second half, both teams showed dedication and were eager to win.

Unfortunately, Spain FC’s attack could not penetrate Rock FC’s defence. Then final score was 1-0, in favour of Rock FC.

Rock FC’s team manager, Santana Chauke, said he was delighted to have won the tournament.

“I am a proud manager, especially with their performance on the ground. They proved that they wanted to win. We played a fair game that left no one injured. We are happy to be the champions of this weekend’s tournament,” he said.

The organiser of the tournament, Pieces Thaba, said the games were held to help fight crime in the community.

“Every weekend, the games help reduce criminal elements in our community. We are happy that in every tournament we have no fights or anything else to disturb the teams playing. We only need more support from the community,” he said.
