Pule United celebrates championship title

Pule United staged a TUFA Promotional League trophy parade for the first time when their players celebrated the team's first title in their second year of joining the league.

The team celebrated its championship title at Birch Acres on Saturday last week with a braai.

With the drizzling weather in the morning, Pule United’s supporters turned out to honour the team a day after its 2-0 victory over Caprivi FC.

They walked away with R5 000 in cash, a trophy and gold medals. Pule United was promoted to play in the Super League to kick off in September this year.

The team captain, Thapelo Moloi, said he was happy about the achievement.

“I am proud of my team. They were cooperative and determined. We had so many challenges, like not being at the same level as the other teams in the league. It was hard,” he said.

The team owner, Mr Pule Sibanda, said his players honoured him with the championship title.

“I have dreamt of seeing my team growing and becoming the best. We always wanted to be on top,”he said.

With the money, Sibanda said the players will share it for their benefit.

“This is just to encourage the lads to keep the confidence and passion. I want to see them playing with professional teams,” he said.
