Nova MMA Academy fighters win fights
The club currently has an amateur record of eight wins and one loss
TWO fighters from Nova MMA Academy in Glen Marais, Gerhard Eksteen and Anthony Paul, won their first amateur MMA fights at the Fightstar Fighting Championships at St John Hellenic Hall at the end of July.
Eksteen competed in the welterweight division and Paul in the light-heavyweight division.
Paul’s fight against William from Valhalla went to all three rounds and he was announced as the winner after a unanimous vote from the judges.
Eksteen’s opponent was Freddie Bronkhorst from Pit Bull. The fight kicked off with a lot of action with both fighters wanting to win.
The fight came to a stop during the second round with Eksteen winning after performing a ground and pound on Bronkhorst.
The club currently has an amateur record of eight wins and one loss.
“It is with commitment and hard work that we are able to uphold such a good record. I am proud of my boys and everyone who has been supporting us,” said coach JD du Plessis.
