Premier side stays in the running

The club will host its annual fundraising golf day on December 12

THE past two weekends have seen Kempton Park Cricket Club’s premier team picking up bonus point victories against Tembisa and Duduza, ensuring that the team stays in the hunt for their ninth premier league title.

After posting 245/6, Kempton went on to dismiss Tembisa for 95 with Gavin Ralph taking 6/19. Wes Marshall scored 68, Dylan Nel 55 and Sarel Myburg 43*.

The following weekend Kempton lost the toss in a rain reduced game and batted first, posting 301/5 in 37 overs. Marshall scored 155, Marius Lubbe 55 and Jurie Snyman 65*.

Duduza were dismissed for 97 with Kyle Marshall taking 5/18.

This Sunday sees the premier team taking on Benoni Northerns.

The premier reserve team had two good victories over Benoni Northerns (96 all out) and Kwa Thema (115 all out). Dean Visser was the best bowler, taking seven wickets in two games. Wynand Hefer (85*) shone with the bat in the run chase against KwaThema.

The Saturday first league side remains an interesting one with the Kempton Renegades and Kempton C winning their games against Kempton A and CBC respectively. This Saturday sees the two teams face each other at Barnard B in another Kempton derby.

The Kempton Two’s have gained good momentum in their effort to win the second league, beating Actonville and Kwa Thema. The Kempton women team beat Tembisa in a tough encounter on Saturday, ensuring a secure spot at the top of the log.
