Tough weekend for Kempton’s junior teams

MOST OF Kempton Park Junior Cricket Club’s teams were back in action at the weekend.

U/8A hosted Avion. Kempton won the toss and chose to bat, scoring 151/4 in their 25 overs.

Scoring with the bat were Floors Mynhardt (41*) and Jacques Naude (30*). Avion was then dismissed for 95 in 22 overs.

Mynhardt took 2/2 in 2 overs and Jean Groenewald 2/11 in 2 overs.

U/8 B1 played their own B2 side. B1 won the toss and chose to bat. B1 scored 107/5 in their 25 overs with Callum Henderson making 19*.

B2 then replied with 108/5 in 19 overs with the best bowling by Janrik Van Wyk (1/8 in 2 overs).

U/10 super league faced Benoni Northerns in the first of two matches on the day. Benoni won the toss, batted first and made 197/3.

Kempton scored 152/5 and lost by 45 runs. Top batsmen were James Mendoza (33*), Kaiyuran Pillay (31*), Darien Claassen (28) and Joshua Gladwin (23).

The pick of the bowlers went to Ian van Rhyn (4 overs, 1/13), James Mendoza (3 overs, 1/22) and Ronan Maher (3 overs, 0/12). Man of the match went to Darien Claassen with his 28 runs and taking two outstanding catches on the boundary.

Kempton played Duduza in die second game of the festival and came out tops by beating them by 103 runs. Scoring well with the bat were Kyle Botes (55*), Tiaan Haywood (28*) and Ian van Rhyn (18*).

Bowlers who each took a wicket were Mendoza, Joshua Gladwin, Claassen and Sarel Erasmus.

U/10A lost to Benoni Northerns. Northerns made 165/3 and dismissed Kempton for 65 runs. Man of the match went to Evan Olivier who scored 18 runs.

U/12 super league lost to Benoni Northerns by 4 wickets. Kempton batted first and scored 115/3. Man of the match, Devon Joyce (33*), and Connor Welman (27) top scored. Benoni then made 116/6 with Lourens van Rooyen taking 2/14.

U /12A1 beat Avion A by 87 runs. Nathan Walton was man of the match with his first 50 for Kempton.

U/12 B1 beat Tsakane by 4 runs. Best Kempton bowler was Daniel Stoltz with 4/24. Marco Di Gaspero scored 39 runs and was man of the match.

U/14 super league lost to Benoni Northerns by 6 wickets. Chasing 154 to win, Benoni reached the target with 5 overs to spare. Man of the match went to Neo Felane, bowling 5 overs and taking 2/12.

U/14A2 lost to Thembisa by 5 wickets. Kempton scored 112/7 with Stephan Ruizendal 40 (man of the match) and Zander de Beer 22. Tembisa replied with 114/5 with Ryan Baird talking 1/6.
