Young swimmer rakes in three gold medals

Lize-Mari de Beer (14) from Kempton Park represented Mandeville Dolphins Swimming Club at the Central Gauteng (CGA) Open Long-Course Championships  at the Ellis Park pool in Johannesburg from December 18-21 where she claimed three gold medals, one silver and three  bronze.

On the first day, Lize-Mari shared 1st place with another swimmer in the women’s 13-14 200m freestyle in 2:10.08.  They shared the CGA Championship Sub-Junior Women Esselen Park Trophy for the 200m freestyle.

Lize-Mari finished 4th in the women 13-14 100m backstroke in 1:11.28.  On the second day, she finished 2nd in the women’s 13-14 200m backstroke in 2:27.48, and 1st in the women’s 13-14 100m freestyle in 1:00.97.

Lize-Mari was awarded the Mary-Eddie Moreton Floating Trophy for 100m freestyle for girls under 16.

On the third day, Lize-Mari finished 1st in the women’s 13-14 400m freestyle in 4:37.42 and was awarded the Sheila Webster Trophy for 400m freestyle for junior women.

She came 3rd in the wome’sn 13-14 50m backstroke in 33.39.  On the fourth day, Lize-Mari finished 3rd in the women’s 13-14 50m freestyle in 28.32 and 3rd in the women 13-14 200m individual medley in 2:28.90.
