Rivalry at Redstar Raceway during SupaDrift series

Drivers are expected to hit 140km/h before locking their tyres and engaging the drift

FEBRUARY 28 and March 1 will see South Africa’s own AutoTrader SupaDrift Series hit the Redstar Raceway in Mpumalanga for the very first time.

Traditionally a bike track, Redstar Raceway will welcome drifters with hair-raising speeds. Drivers are expected to hit 140km/h before locking their tyres and engaging the drift.

Fresh from a 2014 overall win, superstar Wade van Zummeren is back to fight for his title. Right behind him is 2013 champion and last year’s runner up, Jason Webb. Webb will be debuting a brand new Nissan S13 200SX.

A crash while up against Van Zummerman took Webb out of last year’s final, making their top of the table battle one to watch.

Seventeen-year-old Mariska Dyke from Nigel is expected to make her maiden appearance and will set the record for SA’s youngest woman ever to hit the tar in the competition.

Tickets will be available at the gate at R80 for adults and R50 for children.

The SupaDrift Series “sideways craze” is the art of power sliding through corners at ultra high speeds. A modern motorsport phenomenon, the AutoTrader SupaDrift Series events are geared for the whole family.
