THE results of Kempton Park Junior Cricket Club’s matches played at the weekend were:
U/8A: Kempton beat Duduza by 21 runs. Kempton batted first and put on 74/8 with Joshua James 10*, Connor le Grange 8*, Floor Mynhardt 8 (man of the match) and Stian Smith 8*. Duduza were dismissed for 53. Bowlers taking wickets were Martin Williams 2/5, Keagan Bruwer 1/3, Floor Mynhardt 1/3, Jacques Naude 1/3, Jean Groenewald 1/3 and Joshua James 1/0.
U/8B1: Kempton lost by 4 wickets to Avion.
U/8B2: Kempton beat Kwa Thema by 23 runs. Batting first, Kempton Park scored 102/1 with Eric Southey 9 and Kaeden Naidu 8. Kempton then bowled Kwa Thema out for 79 runs.
Tinashe Gumbo took 2/9 and Aryan Pillay 2/16.
U/10 super league: Kempton faced Avion in the very long awaited local derby at home. Avion batted first and made 93/7.
Kempton, needing 9 runs off the last 6 balls, ran 5 runs short and finished on 88/5.
Top scorers with the bat were Kaiyuran Pillay 23* and James Mendoza 24* (man of the match). Tight bowlers limiting the Avion batsmen were James Mendoza (4 overs 2/17), Ian van Rhyn (4 overs, 2 maidens, 1/1), Matthew Cowling (3 overs 1/7), Shirav Sewsunker (4 overs 1/17) and Tiaan Haywood (3 overs 1/15). A true nail biter played in good spirit by both teams.
U/10B1: Kempton Park lost by 15 runs to Bakerton. Man of the match went to Lucian Vorster 42*.
U/10B2: Kempton lost to Avion by 7 wickets. Outstanding contribution with the bat by Wiaan van der Berg with 89.
U/12 super league: Kempton beat United by 1 wicket, scoring the winning run off the last ball. United made 94/7 with Enrico Potgieter taking 2/3 and Teryn Marais 2/17. With the 9th wicket falling on the third last ball with the scores tied, Kempton got the winning runs off the very last ball. Luke Gunter 32 and James Enslin 16 shared man of the match.
U/12A1: Kempton beat Actonville by 8 wickets.
U/12A2: Kempton beat Bakerton by 5 wickets.
U/14A: KP restricted Tembisa to 108 and then reached the winning total with only 1 wicket down. Jarred Appel (32) and Bjorn Barnard (35) set a great base with the bat.
