Midas tramples Ivory Cosmos
Midas FC beat Ivory Cosmos FC 3-1 in a friendly match played at the Square One Sports Grounds on Sunday.
Ivory Cosmos FC was the better side in the first half, passing the ball to each other from the back through the midfield.
The team’s downfall was trying to walk the ball into the net, instead of shooting from a distance.
Midas FC’s reliable striker, Eddie Manamela, opened the scoring 15 minutes into the first half, putting his team into the lead.
The score was 1-0 at the half-time break.
In the second half, both teams came back more organised. Midas FC’s midfielder, Lazzy Mothele, scored a second goal 10 minutes into the second half.
Against the run of play, Ivory Cosmos FC scored a goal through defender Phuti Nkwana, after he received a well-timed passed from striker Elmond Tlhako.
Ivory Cosmos FC’s goalkeeper was an asset to the team, preventing many attempts at goal.
A 3-1 victory was secured for Midas FC when Tebogo Lepadima put a third goal into the back of the net in the dying minutes of the game.
Midas FC’s coach, Happy Phaswane, said he was delighted his team won the match.
“It was just a friendly game and part of our training. We look forward to winning important games which will make a name for us. I am happy with the performance of my players and they played well,” he said.
