Venter is Eastern Gauteng pool champ

In 2014 he won the league and the award for most white washes in pool

A local pool player has won the Eastern Gauteng Snooker and Billiards Association’s Open Championship 2014 (ESBA).

During the prize-giving of Eastern Gauteng Pool Association (EGPA) in December, Lucas Venter also received the player of the year award for pool due to his good performance during the year.

Venter has represented South Africa in the last four world championships in England (2011-2014).

He started playing pool at his local café when he was still at school. “With the enjoyment growing, I also started to play better and better.

“I joined a club when I was 16 and received my junior Eastern Gauteng colours at the age of 17,” he said.

Since then he represented Eastern Gauteng in pool at national level over 16 times and represented South Africa at international level four times.

“My interest in snooker started about four years ago due to the challenge of the sport and since I won the Eastern Gauteng league three times. In 2014 he won the league and the award for most white washes in pool. He also won the league and is the current Eastern Gauteng single champion in snooker.
