Juniors end season on a high note

Southey takes a hat-trick for the U/8B2 side

THE juniors of Kempton Park Cricket Club ended the season on a high note at the weekend.

U/8A batted first facing Boksburg and scored 89/4 with Joshua Shanker making 22*.

The match was drawn when Boksburg scored 89/5.

Kempton’s wicket takers were Jacques Naude (1/13), Joshua James (1/3) and Kayden Dickenson (1/7).

U/8B1 beat Watteville by 61 runs. Kempton batted first and scored 153/8 in their 25 overs with Luke Scrimgeour getting 48, Janrik van Wyk 32 and Christopher Bennett 19*.

Watteville scored 92/7 in 25 overs with Luke Scrimgeour taking 3/2 and Tashyn Vandayar 2/5.

U/8B2 lost by 37 runs against Tembisa. Tembisa scored a formidable 147 runs. Eric Southey took a hat-trick in the 25th over and had figures of 4/10 in the match.

Kempton, chasing this total, scored 110 runs in their 25 overs, losing the game by 37 runs. Chadyn van Zyl and Ethan Simpson scored 25 and 29 runs respectively.

U/12A1 beat Kwathema by 8 wickets. Man of the match went to Liam la Grange with 53*.

U/12B1 drew with Tsakane with both teams scoring 113 runs in their 25 overs. Dwyne Green was man of the match with 25 runs and taking 2/24.
