New executive committee for Tembisa Golf Club

A great 2015 golfing season beckons for the golfers of Tembisa as the club shuffled its executive committee.

“The 2015 calendar year is set to be one of the best years for Tembisa golfers,” said Mr Benjamin Monyanyedi.

His sentiments were echoed by the new chairperson of the Tembisa Golf Club, Mr Mohera Boshomane.

The club had its annual general meeting at Caprivi Jazz Lounge recently.

Mr Boshomane was appointed as chairperson and his deputy is Mr Francis Tsotetsi.

Mr Harry Legoabe came in as a new treasurer to add fresh ideas and thinking to some of the retained old guards like Mr Sam Serongoane, Mr Comfort Mazibuko, the ever hard working Mr Frans Molepo who ensured stability was maintained at Ebuhleni during the past two years and Mr Benjamin Monyanyedi, who was also retained as organising secretary.

Mr Norman Ratshidi was also elected into the new executive as an additional member together with Mr Khulo Hlebela.

Mr Mesh Maloka was added as a second vice-captain to ensure all events and competitions of the club would be adequately catered for.

“The new executive committee’s mandate includes driving the transformation process, grass-roots golf development and promoting the game of golf not only in Tembisa but also in other nearby Ekurhuleni townships. We are here to make sure golfers in our township, young and old, continue playing the game socially, competitively and otherwise with the aim of one day producing our own Tiger Woods,” said Mr Boshomane.

He added that for the past two years, the club managed to unearth the likes of Lebo Makume from Difateng Section, Maleka Motsomotso from Thiteng Section and a number of promising boys and girls who are part of the club’s golf development programme.

“Very soon we will have our major event, The Tembisa Golf Club 36-holes Club Championship competition. The defending champion is Francis Tsotetsi, who also performed well at the recent Kempton Park Country Club Championship event,” he said.
