Local athletes put Tembisa on the map
Tembisa's top athletes, Mr Phillmon Mathiba and Mr Africa Mailola, have put the area on the map after winning several titles at recent competitions.
The two athletes, who are part of the Nedbank Club, told The Tembisan that running was their hobby since a young age.
Mr Mathiba took second place over the weekend, during the 4 kilometre cross country event held at Delta Park.
The Slow Mag Marathon champion, Mr Mathiba, said the event formed part of his training for upcoming events.
At the Slow Mag Marathon, he was awarded a gold medal and cash.
The Slow Mag Marathon was held on April 26.
During the cross country run, he broke the second place record by 12 minutes and 2 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Tough One champion, Africa Mailola, took third place in the 32 kilometre Colgate race which was held in Boksburg on Sunday. He finished the race in 1:49;32.
Both Mr Mathiba and Mr Mailola will be running the FNB 12 kilometre road race to be held in Cape Town.
