Tavern soccer teams to head horns

About 50 tavern owners’ soccer teams will battle it out in a one-day SAB sponsored football tournament dubbed, League of Champions.

The games will be played at Phomolong Sports Ground on June 14.

According to SAB events coordinator and organiser, Mr Solomon the teams that will be participating in the tournament will be coming from Tembisa, Phomolong, Alex, Thokoza, Vosloorus and Egoli regions.

The finals will be played in Soweto at Nike Stadium.

This forms part of creating an awareness around communities in the Ekurhuleni region, ahead of the coming Carling Black Label showdown featuring the two Soweto soccer giants, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
