Super Fives Hockey to introduce new Super Fives League

You can enter as a team or as an individual

SUPER Fives Hockey will host the Super Fives League at the Eastern Gauteng Hockey Association Astro in Benoni from February 13 to March 20, featuring teams from schools, companies and sports people on the East Rand.

Super Fives Hockey is the latest format that has been introduced by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) to create a shortened version of the game that aligns with other international sporting codes like cricket (T20), rugby (Sevens), and soccer (5s).

Easterns Eagles will hold an open day on February 6 from 11.30am until 2.30pm at the Eastern Gauteng Hockey Association Astro.

The inaugural leagues will cater for players from u/13 to u/19, with seniors and masters leagues to follow soon.

You can enter as a team or as an individual either online at https://superfives.co.za/easternseagles/ or call Shaun Taylor on 082-489-0001.

The Super Fives Hockey League is operated locally by former South African national players, Lloyd Norris-Jones and Steve Evans.

Lloyd Norris-Jones is one of South Africa’s most successful hockey stars, having played over 140 international matches and scoring over 70 goals as an Olympian in London 2012 and over three World Cups.

Evans represented South Africa 96 times between 1996 and 2004, retiring after the Athens Olympics.

He has since successfully transitioned to coaching, guiding the WP Pens and WP teams to IPT gold in 2014 and 2015 respectively

Super Fives franchises are being launched in Eastern Gauteng (Easterns Eagles), Southern Gauteng (Southern Trappers), Cape Town northern suburbs (Tigers) and Cape Town southern suburbs (Western Thunder), with more franchises to be added.
