Fun for the family at annual Nissan Easter Festival

The Nissan Kiddies area will be an action-packed fun zone for kids over the Easter weekend of Saturday, Sunday and Monday

The ninth edition of the Nissan Easter Festival will see competitors from Zimbabwe, Botswana, Swaziland, Zambia and Namibia challenging South Africans in a whole host of disciplines including showing, equitation, gymkhana, dressage and showjumping.

It’s a fun-filled festival not to be missed by riders, owners and supporters. Even those who’ve never yet witnessed the grace and power of the horse are invited to attend the free for all 10-day competition to be held at Kyalami Equestrian Park from March 24 to April 2.

Show director Heather Mpofu says there’s something for everyone, even if you don’t know your horse sport.

“There’s the hugely popular Nissan Six Bar event as well as the Nissan celebrity fancy dress on Easter Sunday, which are personal favourites of mine. There’s also working hunter classes, equitation, showing and for the first time ever gymkhana games for the children.

“Outside of the arenas, families can enjoy the ever-popular Easter egg hunt, food markets, car display, jumping castles and face-painters. Entrance is free and we encourage everyone to join us and enjoy a fabulous day out.”

The show will culminate in the SA Outdoor Grand Prix set to take place at 2pm on Easter Monday, April 2, with close to 3 000 fans expected to pack the stands and witness showjumpers tackle the 1.50m high obstacles against the clock.
