KPFC tramples Boksburg in ILFA Super League match

The star of the game was Zivia Verenga, whose nifty footwork led to four of the seven goals.

Kempton Park Football Club’s ILFA Super League first team rose to third on the table with an incredible 7-4 win over Boksburg on Saturday.

After missing three early chances, Kempton took the lead after 18 minutes when Zivai Verenga controlled a drilled cross from Mack Botopela before cutting the ball around his marker and casually sliding the ball into the net.

Five minutes later the lead was two when Verenga marauded down the right and fired a perfect centre for Ociano Pretorius to side foot home.

Complacency then set in and Boksburg struck back when the ball was headed into the net. The visitors equalised with five minutes of the half remaining after the referee adjudged deliberate hand ball and awarded a penalty which was dispatched in to the keepers left.

With seconds of the half remaining Verenga scored his second and Kempton Park’s third.

Kempton Park Football Club’s ILFA Super League first team did the city proud with their 7-4 win over Boksburg.

The second half began as the first had ended. Verenga collected the ball in acres of space just outside the penalty area and rounded the goalkeeper before rolling the ball into an unguarded net.

KG Ramoghoase made the score 5-2 when his long range pile driver slammed into the bottom right hand corner.

Again, Kempton seemed to fall into a slumber. Migs Letsiro was dispossessed and the Boksburg striker had few problems lofting the ball over a stranded Nathi Ngobe in the Kempton goal.

Kempton’s sixth goal was a thing of beauty. A fine passing move down the right allowed substitute Paballo Ngobeni to beat two defenders before he fired the most exquisite cross met by Verenga at the back post for his fourth of the day and eighth in three games.

Sandile Gamede made the scoreline 7-3 with an easy finish before, on the stroke of full time, Boksburg scored again.

A victory by three goals but coach John Mann was unhappy about the defensive performance and warned if things did not improve, better sides would take full advantage.

Kempton play away at Randburg on Saturday at Randburg Sports Complex.

The reserves recorded their first win of the season with an emphatic 7-1 over Boksburg.

Kempton’s goal scorers were Andy Ngangeli, Mike Lemphane, Ntokozo Mayisa (3), Skillo Ditshego and Kagiso Sithole.

In the SAB Castle League Kempton bounced back and recorded a 2-1 away victory over fourth placed Jacoba at Edenvale on Friday.

Khodani Rabedzwana set up Euclid Palmer for a first half goal midway through the first half.

The lads in blue tried their best, but it was the home team in red that proved the better players on the day.

Rabedzwana and Palmer combined again a quarter of an hour into the second half with an excellent strike from Palmer, leaving the Jacoba shot stopper no chance.

Jacoba scored a consolation goal with minutes left but Kempton were never troubled again and deservedly took the points.

Kempton’s next game is scheduled at home against Germiston kicking off at 7.30pm on Saturday.

The previous week’s debacle with Kempton Park Cricket Club playing on the soccer field cost KPFC three points and a R5 000 fine sanctioned by SAFA,
