Kwasakwasa FC celebrated a 2-0 victory league victory against Genius FC

Kwasakwasa FC celebrated a 2-0 victory after beating Genius FC to claim a second spot on the log standings of the Tembisa Masters Social League at Mehlareng Stadium on May 19.

The match kicked-off at 4pm. Kwasakwasa is known to have former professional and experienced players, including Lucky Lekgwathi, Josta Dladla and David Mathebula.

The first half was competitive. Both teams tried to use counter attacks from their wingers. There was no score at half time.

In the second half, both teams started to show urgency, each trying to create goal scoring opportunities. It was Kwasakwasa’s Mlungisi Cele who opened the score in the 70th minute.

Kwasakwasa gained momentum and took control of the game. Genius tried to create goal scoring opportunities to no avail. In the dying minutes, Kwasakwasa doubled their lead, with Jack Makgese sealing victory for his side. Dennis Mpyane of Genius FC was shown a red card towards the end of the game for rough play.

Genius FC coach Rodney Mathekga said they gave the opposition too much space, a mistake that resulted in them losing the game.

“I expected my players to win me the game. The players tried their best to win, but it just did not work” said Mathekga.

Kwasakwasa FC coach Thabo ‘Shoes’ Sefatsa said they are happy with the results of the match.

“We had to win the game because it was a crucial game for us at this point. We got tired towards the end of the game, a factor that created a room for the oppositions to attack and put more pressure on us,” said Sefatsa.

Other results included Zamalek FC 2-0 victory over La Liga FC to top the log standings at 22 points.

The next games will be at Mehlareng Stadium on May 26 from 8am.
