Lindsay from Kempton Road Runners wins masters race at Comrades
Kempton Road Runners fielded 57 runners this year, of whom 42 finished the race.
Lindsay van Aswegen of Kempton Road Runners won the masters women’s race (50-59 years) of this year’s Comrades Marathon.
She finished her race in 7:31:15, beating the runner-up by 31 minutes.
The club fielded 57 runners this year, of whom 42 finished the race. Among these athletes were five novices and Johan van Staden, who ran his 28th Comrades.
Several runners also recorded their best personal times.
Pieter Swanepoel was the first runner home for Kempton Road Runners, with a new personal best time of 6:50:22. Kempton Road Runners had not seen a sub seven-hours for several years now until Swanepoel came on the scene this year.
