Scorpions don’t hold back against Giant Killers
In the dying stages, the Killers’ coach, Mike Qamba, introduced a new pair of legs, but they could not offer him solutions.
The Tembisa Scorpions FC turned the Mamelodi Park Stadium into a slaughter house when they showed the home team, the Mamelodi Giant Killers FC, no mercy during a friendly tier on Sunday.
The mighty Scorpions stung the Giant Killers 4-0 in a thriller encounter enjoyed by many local soccer fanatics.
The Giant Killers were harshly punished in the first minute of the game when their attempt at an offside trap backfired and Isaac Nkosi made no mistake and stung one home.
The Scorpions’ lead could not deter the never-say-die spirit of the Killers, who one would have thought were in the lead, as they played a never-before-seen carpet football with accurate one-twos.
There were times when they looked sharp on the ball and created their own scoring opportunities, but poor finishing let them down at the end.
The second stanza of the game saw Nkosi grabbing his second goal, which left the Killers searching for immediate clues and answers as time was fast ticking away and the dreams of a come-back slowly fading.
In the dying stages, the Killers’ coach, Mike Qamba, introduced a new pair of legs, but they could not offer him solutions.
In the midst of that darkness, the Scorpions were awarded a penalty, which was easily converted by Abel Matoho.
Just when everybody thought the Scorpions were done, they proved it wasn’t so. The Scorpions had one more sting left, and Vincent Mahlobo took the golden opportunity and registered his name on the scoring sheet to make it four.
