Netball star to represent Ekurhuleni

Netball queen needs your help.

Ekurhuleni’s netball star Nokuthula Mpeqeka was selected to represent this region in the national championships.

The talented Mpeqeka will represent this district during these games, scheduled for August 4 to 10 at the University of Johannesburg, Auckland Park.

There is one major obstacle standing in her way to the championships, though: Mpeqeka needs R2 500 to travel and be part of the team that will represent Ekurhuleni.

“This young girl has been selected to represent Ekurhuleni and it is necessary that we give her a proper send-off to the games. It is a known fact that money is involved during such competitions because the players have to travel, eat and make calls to their families and this is the reason why this particular player also needs assistance because she doesn’t have anything except the love for the game,” said Sekwena Ratau, Ekurhuleni Sports Confederation’s education and training specialist who also serves as the Tembisa One Sports Confederation president.

She said: “Let us support the girl to reach her goals of playing and managing netball and ultimately represent the country’s national team. Her dream of being seen in action by recruitment agencies depends on these upcoming games.

“Your contributions will make a huge difference to those who cannot afford to pay the required tour fees.”

Those who wish to make contributions are welcome to call Ratau on 082 417 5512 or make direct deposits to Ekurhuleni Netball Association, using Absa bank account number 4051967409 and use the name of the player as reference.
