Coach demands cooperation from parents and larger teams
Mashile appealed to parents to acknowledge the hard work he does with the girls.
A Tembisa man is determined to develop girls soccer stars who will shine in professional football.
Founder and head coach of Phomolong Ladies FC Marks Mashile started developing young girls in 1995 to become professional soccer players.
The coach boasts a number of players who are playing on the professional side and some are representing the country as part of Banyana Banyana.
Mashile said he is aggrieved by big teams that do not acknowledge his hard work by disregarding him when they want to sign up the players he has developed from scratch.
“When the big teams identify players from the girls I trained they never come to negotiate with me.
“They approach parents instead and as a result, I end up fighting with parents who come to me demanding a player clearance certificate,” Mashile said.
Mashile reckons if a team approaches him he would be able to request equipment sponsorship in exchange for the players they take, so the remaining players can also benefit and he can be able to develop more girl players.
“The coaches must stop going to parents for clearance certificates because it is not the parents who develop these children, I am the one who is developing them.
“The big teams must come directly to me instead of causing confusion between me and the parents,” said Mashile.
He said cooperation between him and the big teams could help in developing more women soccer players in Tembisa.
Mashile appealed to parents to acknowledge the hard work he does with the girls.
