Netball league planned for next year
We intend to put up a proper netball league so that girls can also be catered for
The Tembisa United Football Association is in the process of establishing a proper netball league which will feature local teams.
This was announced by the association’s chairperson, Sinky Mnisi, during the association’s annual award ceremony held at the Makhulong Stadium on Sunday.
“We intend to put up a proper netball league so that girls can also be catered for. Currently it looks like we are only concentrating on boys.
“We are hoping to have this structured netball league up and running by next year. We hope to attract more local teams,” said Mnisi.
Mnisi, a township sport developer, stressed there was a need to help groom the girl child. He believes that establishing the netball league will help to achieve their goal of fighting crime, drugs and substance abuse.
“When these kids are kept busy with sporting activities, their minds will be more focused, and they will start thinking positively, and they will start to dream. And when they start dreaming, they will become aware that they need to stay away from drugs and substance abuse. This is our goal.
“As an association, we would like to plead with the parents to allow us to assist in the fight against drugs and substance abuse by bringing these kids to come to play,” appealed Mnisi.
