School soccer tournament to promote Harambee BRT system
KTVR Harambee schools tourney to be hosted
Today will see the first-ever KTVR Harambee Schools Soccer Tournament hosted at the Mehlareng Stadium.
The soccer festivities are scheduled to run from 9am until 5pm.
According to the City of Ekurhuleni, the games will be dedicated to the Tembisa Schools Football Association.
“Tomorrow, the city’s Department of Transport and Fleet Management is partnering with KTVR (Harambee BRT operating company), Ekurhuleni Gauteng National Taxi Alliance (EGNTA), South African National Taxi Alliance Council (SANTACO) together with local schools, to showcase the talent of the future starts in the areas where the Harambee buses operate.
“The City of Ekurhuleni, KTVR and other stakeholders involved intend to inform and educate the entire community, commuters, taxi drivers and taxi owners about the Harambee BRT.
“We also intend using these games to promote usage of the Harambee buses and build trust in the system within the community,” said the city’s spokesperson, Themba Gadebe.
Tebogo Modise, KTVR marketing officer, said this year’s tournament will see a number high schools participating, with their boys’ and girls’ teams in pursuit of the winner’s trophy.
