GALLERY: Red Sox host SA Masters Baseball Tournament

Fifteen teams entered the competition in three categories - elite, challenge and vets' league. Players had to be over 35 years of age and the veterans over 45 years.

Red Sox Baseball and Softball Club hosted the 27th annual SA Masters Baseball Tournament from October 9 to 12 in Kempton Park.

Fifteen teams entered the competition in three categories – elite, challenge and vets’ league. Players had to be over 35 years of age and the veterans over 45 years. The tournament took place over four days, with each team playing two games a day. The teams represented were from Easterns, Northerns, Gauteng, South West Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Mandela Bay and Western Province (WP).

The top two teams met each other in the finals held on Saturday morning.

The results were:

Vets’ league final was played between WP and Northerns and won by WP.

Challenge league final was between Easterns and WP, with WP winning 12-10.

Elite final was between Easterns and Northerns, with Northerns clinching the game 10-9.
