Swimmers awarded at annual ceremony

Academy swimmers received awards at all levels of swimming.

Following a tough season of swimming, Aquatic Academy swimmers were rewarded at the annual Eastern Gauteng awards for 2019.

Academy swimmers received awards at all levels of swimming. Six swimmers who competed with league club ESP Piranhas, were invited to the awards.

Bernelee Doster and Kyle Mckenzie were both age group winners.

Annebel van Wyk (1), Bernelee Doster (3) and Kyle Mckenzie (4) received awards for new Eastern Gauteng records.

McKenzie also received the award for breaking a long-standing Eastern Gauteng Aquatic Championship record. The past record for the 400m individual medley had stood for 25 years.

The coach of year award went to Liz Humphrey, Aquatic Academy’s head coach.

The top performers at the regional and national championships were:

End of season level 2 (Central Gauteng Aquatics Championship): Christina Pon.

Aquatic Gauteng level 1 regionals: Tinashe Senzeko.

Youth national award: Bernelee Doster.

Senior elite nationals: Kyle Mckenzie.

Clayton Malaza received recognition for his selection to the team that competed in Italy at the Socini Games in 2018.
