All systems go for Tembisa race
Water and soft drinks will be provided at the three hydration points along the route
It’s all systems go for the Tembisa’s ultimate race, the annual Tembisa Mile, due to take place on Sunday morning.
Rounding off some final touches, the organisers of the race announced the race number collection and late registration would take place on October 26, a day before the final showdown, at Moses Molelekwa Arts Centre from 10am to 6pm, and on the race day from 5am to 6.50am.
“Athletes must bring their race number sms notification, proof of identification and proof of payment.
“If collecting on behalf of someone, bring your proof of identification, a copy of the entrant’s identification and race number sms notification.
“Late registration fee is R110 for the 10km runners and R50 for the 1 Mile runners. Temporary running licence fee is R30 for the 10km and R10 for the mile,” said the organiser, Donald Mathipa.
Water and soft drinks will be provided at the three hydration points along the route. The hydration points will be located approximately 2.5km apart.
“There will be ablution facilities at all the stations and at the finish. Tog bag area will also be provided inside the registration hall. There will be 300 race volunteers to ensure that every runner’s need is adequately catered for on the race day.
“The race will start at promptly at 7am. All registered race finishers will receive medals and goodie bags,” he said.
The race is sponsored by SPAR North Rand, Gauteng Sport Confederation, Cosmo-net MTN, City of Ekurhuleni Department of Sports and Recreation, Leso Estate, Zamokuhle Private Hospital and Mathews and Mathews Marketing.
