Highlands Park spent the better part of Monday interacting with the media and their sponsors, Hatfield VW and Jonsson Workwear.
Led by the team’s coach, Owen Da Gama, and his technical members, the Lions of the North used this day to thank their media partners such as this newspaper, and their sponsors for their continued support.
This interaction was held at the Hatfield VW Melrose dealership.
“This team is what it is and where it is today because of our valued sponsors, the Hatfield VW Motors and Jonsson Workwear. We cannot leave out our media partners such as The Tembisan which is always behind the team in terms of reporting and writing about the team, whether we do well or not.

“There are a number of other newspapers and radio stations that have played a huge role in promoting and selling the team to communities out there. And this day is for us to really say our thanks to all the media houses that are fully behind the team,” said the team’s spokesperson, Sibonelo Ngidi.
“Also of importance are the team’s supporters who are always behind the team. They travel far just to give that extra support to our boys whenever they play away.
“We have supporters across the country and we really appreciate each and every one of them, but we would like to give thanks to the Tembisa community for adopting the team as their own.
“The support in Tembisa has been overwhelming and for that we salute each and every Tembisan behind the team,” said Ngidi.
The team presented their sponsors with the MTN8 replica jersey as a gesture of appreciation.
