Squash club ends successful year
The business league has grown from strength to strength.
It has been a very successful year for Kempton Country Club’s (KCC) squash players, having completed the first year of the business league.
Unfortunately, the Easterns Squash League is on the decline with fewer teams participating each season. However, KCC has a thriving business league and increasing doubles participation.
The business league has grown from strength to strength with nine teams competing on a Monday, eight teams on a Wednesday and eight teams on a Thursday.
The addition of a part-time barman has assisted with providing meals after business league matches. Andries Marais provides well-prepared meals with braai packs, salads and rolls.
This has been well received and supported by most players.
The school league, under the supervision of Judy Rudolf, a teacher at Hoërskool Kempton Park, has worked well, with teams from as far as Springs competing. Hoërskool Kempton Park was well represented at all the games.
Many members participated in the inter-provincial tournament doubles tournament in East London. Irene Coetser and Magdel Boshoff won their section with a game to spare, successfully defending their title won last year.
