Tembisa Golf Club receives donation of golfing equipment
"This donation has been the best thing to have happened to us."
The late Joe Civin has donated golf equipment to Tembisa Golf Club through his son Errol.
Civin, who is the club captain of Ebotse Golf Club in Benoni, called Benjamin Monyanyedi of Tembisa Golf Club and said his father had asked him before he died to one day give his golf equipment to someone who could put it to good use.
The equipment consisted of golf bags, golf clubs, golf balls, golf magazines and fitness equipment.
Monyanyedi met Errol at the Ekurhuleni Golf Union offices in Benoni, where the handover took place.
“It was a great gesture of Errol to have thought of Tembisa Golf Club, as most of the children in our programme do not have the money to afford such quality equipment Errol has brought to us,” said Monyanyedi.
“It was quite humbling to hear Errol say what his dad had wished for regarding his golf equipment and knowing that it was our desire to one day have a Tyger Woods emerging from our township.
“This donation has been the best thing to have happened to us.”
Tembisa Golf Club’s executive, on behalf of its development team and the entire membership of the club, wishes to thank Errol and his father Joe.
