Highlands Park to clash with Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium

'It’s not going to be easy, but we will keep fighting to keep our supporters and sponsors happy'

Highlands Park will look to return to their winning ways when they take on Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

These two giants will meet at the Orlando Stadium at 6pm, in a crucial battle for three points.

The Lions of the North are going to this clash as wounded beasts, following their 4 – 1 drubbing by the newcomers in the Absa Premiership, Stellenbosch FC, this past Saturday.

This embarrassing defeat has led to Highlands Park dropping down to the eighth spot on the table with 23 points.

Their opponents, Pirates, are on position six with 24 points.

“We started the New Year and the second round on a high note, but then again we have just lost two games, giving away six points, which I believe we will be able to get back.

“It’s not going to be easy, but we will keep fighting to keep our supporters and sponsors happy,” said Highlands Park spokesperson Sibonelo Ngidi.

He said playing against Pirates is always a tricky affair given the experience and individual players the team has.

The Buccaneers won the first round encounter by 1 – 0 when they met last October, at Makhulong Stadium.

“We are not afraid of any team, but we respect them. And yes, Pirates may have skilful players, but so are we. We also have the talent to match them and on Saturday, we are going to throw everything that we have at them. We have done it before, during the MTN8 competition and we believe we can do it again this time,” continued Ngidi.

“As we travel to Orlando Stadium, all we are asking from our supporters is to travel with us and make our presence felt there. The team relies on our supporters to give them that extra boost. So, let us all go and fill up the Orlando Stadium,” said Ngidi.

Pirates are coming from a 4 – 1 win against Polokwane City and will be hoping to continue from this streak.
