Nite Race on January 29 will affect all these roads

Athletes can enter online or the night of the race from 5pm.

Several roads will be affected by the annual Arwyp Rock The Road Nite Race, hosted by Kempton Road Runners, on January 29.

New 5km and 10km routes will be introduced.

Roads that will be effected from around 6pm to 10pm are mostly in Edleen and Van Riebeeck Park, said Charl Whitaker, chairperson of Kempton Road Runners.

These roads are CR Swart, Duvenage, De Wiekus, Okkerneut, Green, Aandblom, Carol van der Walt, Apie le Roux, Jack Bauman, De Villiers, Bontebok, Christoffel, Rooikrans, Kavalier, Drakensberg, Nadir, Mikana, Maluti, corner of Soutpansberg and De Wiekus, Granaat, Suikerbos, Panorama and Oleander.

The race will again start and finish at Barnard Stadium. The 10km race will start at 7pm and the 5km at 7.10pm.

The first biggest school in Kempton Park within the cut-off time of the 5km race will win a laptop, while the runner-up will receive a tablet. Who can beat last year’s champs, Laerskool Impala and Hoërskool Jeugland?

Then there is still the tradition of the biggest club and fastest club bus in the 10km race within the cut-off time.

Food vendors will be ready to serve supporters and hungry race finishers.

You can enter online or on the night of the race. Entries for the 10km can also be done at Sportsmans Warehouse in Greenstone and Boksburg, as well as the Arwyp pharmacy.

“We ask all schools in Kempton Park to get a team together and enter,” said Whitaker.

Kempton Road Runners members are not allowed to run the race.
