Teams draw top A match at Isithame Mvelaphanda

Khoza also applauded the opposition, saying they were hard to play against

Acorn Bush and Bushbuckridge (BBR) drew their Top A match on February 1 at Isithame Mvelaphanda ground.

BBR took the lead by scoring a goal in the first 30 minutes. They didn’t give their opposition a chance to equalise in the first half of the match.

During the second half, Acorn Bush brought their A-game and equalised the score. The match eventually ended 1-1.

Godfrey Khoza, Acorn Bush coach, said: “I had hoped we would win. The boys played a good game and I applaud their enthusiasm. I am very proud of them.”

He said the only way they can improve is to put more effort into their practice sessions. He said they are fighters and he is going to ensure they win next time.

Khoza also applauded the opposition, saying they were hard to play against. He said they have good players as well.

Man of the Match Nyiko Phoku, who plays for Acorn Bush, said he played as hard as he could and that it was a tough game to play.

Mandla Mashaba, BBR coach, said: “We need to fix our attacking strategy. We had a lot of chances to score, but we obviously did not capitalise on them.”
