A new fitness show airing since July on SuperSport channel 10 features Kempton’s very own Jaco de Bruyn as a fellow fitness instructor. The show titled 5 Colour Fitness, produced by Fitness Health and Active (FHA), features de Bruyn as the red team’s personal trainer.
5 Colour Fitness seeks to satisfy the exercise-bug that’s been gnawing on the conscience of active people who have been limited during an unprecedented pandemic, particularly for those working from home. It aspires to keep its viewers physically and mentally fit. One can’t help but wonder what makes this show different from countless other online/on air fitness classes.
De Bruyn thinks this show is more authentic as he also faced challenges in the programme.

“Being a professional there were times where I failed and couldn’t do the exercises. I loved being able to show the viewers that I’m not your stereotypical trainer who can do any just workout,” said de Bruyn. He added that the experience entails pure bodyweight home workouts for everyone who is watching to simply jump-in and join the workout.
“I obviously also use the opportunity to share some valuable and health tips.”
With the numbing effects of lockdown, one can only imagine the lack of the viewer’s motivation to get ready for the summer holidays. However, de Bruyn’s message was that it doesn’t matter how big or small you are – anybody is capable of training with their own bodyweight.
“It’s also not my normal way of training, so I loved that I was also put out of my comfort zone and able to push myself in training a different way.”
Did the show yield any positive feedback for de Bruyn personally?
“Yes, I’ve had so many messages from people saying they loved the workouts. It’s been absolute fun and easy for everyone to train in the comfort of their own home.”
The show broadcasts Monday to Friday at 7am and again at 5pm, with repeats on weekends at the same times.
FHA’s trainers are all proudly South African, and the first season of the show will feature trainers such as Jaco de Bruyn, Laura Danielz, Victoria Sethabela, JP van der Schyff, Tammy Rawston, Anver Alexander, Iain MacDonald and Angela Gresham.
De Bruyn invites his fellow Kemptonians to join every morning at 7am to start the day active. If you only start tuning in now and really enjoy it, de Bruyn said a second season is on the horizon to help you shed added lockdown kilos.
