The club rose to prominence in 2011 after reaching the Nedbank Cup semi-finals, beating multiple PSL teams along the way, including Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs.
The founding member of the Thembisan branch, Raymond Mabala, said the club aims to increase the support base for the team in Thembisa.

“We were influenced by the potential of our club so it can grow like any other club, especially the so-called big teams.

“I serve as a chairperson of the branch, and we identify ourselves with the club and see ourselves as part of Baroka FC family.

“Although we are still confronted by the pandemic, we have a WhatsApp group to communicate among ourselves; however, we still meet every third week of the month, observing all government regulations.

“We are appealing to everyone in Thembisa to join us so we can grow. In the process we will also learn about the plight of our community. During our welfare campaign, we can donate to the needy, not only food parcels but soccer kit as well as, like we did for Winnie Mandela High School in 2018.

“We would like to see our branch improving the lives of the Thembisa community,” said Mabala.
