Makhubo celebrates a decade in the music industry

“I am not only driven by the passion I have for music but also by the love I receive from the community.”

Despite having to endure the difficulties that come with showcasing talent, Leonard Makhubo is celebrating over a decade in the music industry.
The 36-year-old Temong Section resident is passionate about writing songs that urge young people to pursue their aspirations, live up to the standards they set for themselves and defy all odds.
During the time he spent perfecting his talent, Makhubo acquired experience and is still focused on putting more work into his craft.
In 2009, he was featured as an extra in SABC 1 drama Soul Buddies.
He also made it to the top 16 of Class Act season two in 2011 and the Seskhona’s 2012 presenter hunt.
“When it comes to music, I can confidently say I am knowledgeable. I have faced several trials and rejections as a result of my career, and I am still going to invest more to refine my talent. I want to do and achieve more,” Makhubo said.
The music-driven artist is grateful for the love and support he has received from his family and the Thembisan community, who ensured he always reaches his full potential when it comes to music.
He also said it is due to their love and support that he was recently able to release an amapiano single titled Ndize, which he considers being one of the best songs he has produced.
As a way of giving back to the community and appreciating them for all their support and encouragement, he was part of various community initiatives, including a sports programme where he provided extramural classes in soccer, rugby and cricket to the learners of Tlamatlama Primary School.
“I am not only driven by the passion I have for music but also by the love I receive from the community. It contributes greatly to the person and artist I am today. I will forever be grateful for the support I received from the day my career started.”
