What to expect at the Glen Acres Liquor City Wine and Brew Festival

All major credits cards are welcome on the day

GLEN Acres Liquor City together with EXPRESS is hosting a Wine and Brew Festival on Saturday at Glen Eagle Estate on the corner of Monument and Braambos roads from 12.30pm to 9pm.

Guests can expect to see over 40 beer, spirit and wine stalls including a champagne and oyster bar and loads of food stalls with tantalising Portuguese food, beef and chicken prego rolls, Espetadas (grilled beef cubes on skewers), Frango Grelhado (grilled chicken) with chips and salad, Bolo do Caco (Portuguese bread) and Malasadas (Portuguese donuts sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar).

Craft breweries will be showing off their excellent handmade beers, draughts will be on tap all day as well as bottled beer. Some wine farmers will also be flying out from the Cape to attend the festival including Bergsig, Blaauwklippen, Kloovenburg Wine and Olive Estate and much more.

Traditional Portuguese dancing will start after 6pm and the music will be done by Roepstem Band and Dj Vix.

Tickets can be bought on www.itickets.co.za or instore at Glen Acres Liquor City. Adult tickets are R120pp (includes free tasting glass, live entertainment, tasting samples on all wines and beers, except champagne and oysters) and R45 for children (includes a secure under 12 kids play area with loads to keep them busy including face painting, jumping castles and a balloon artist).

A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to three charities our community has voted for. The charities are: All Stars shelter for street children that provide a residential facility caring for boys, youth and young adults from 12 to 19 years of age, Guardian Angel Trust in honour of Felicity Coetzer who battled colon cancer for five years and sadly lost the battle in August 2015. She left behind three children and a trust account was opened for her children’s education and last but not least the Kempton Park SPCA who is in need of puppy and adult food for cats and dogs, toys and any second-hand animal equipment you have. Any of these items can be dropped off at the Glen Acres Liquor City.

Loads of prizes will also be given away and you stand a chance to win a Jagermeister fridge. All you need to do is buy six tickets or more for the Wine and Brew Festival and you will be entered into the lucky draw.
