Wine and whisky festival at Emperors
The gate will open at 5pm on Friday and at 11am on both Saturday and Sunday
The Ekurhuleni Wine and Whisky Festival is set to take place at the D’oreale Grande Gardens at Emperors Palace from April 1 to 3 April.
Organisers, Asakhe Events and SA Wines, divulged it will be so much more than a celebration though.
“The festival is poised to become a hallmark annual affair that will fuse entertainment in such a manner that it will have a lasting, positive impact on the Ekurhuleni community,’ said Tshepang Lutshaba from Asakhe Events.
On Friday the 1st, a workshop will be hosted to present owners of taverns, restaurants and liquor stores with an opportunity to meet top distilleries and wineries. Here they will also sample products and learn the finer details about whisky and wine.
In addition, 30 to 40 young adults will be trained to act as runners and promoters. A significant amount of time will be invested to train these youngsters and to ensure they retain the skills.
On Saturday and Sunday guests can expect to be entertained by Metro FM’s Pru, Joemann and Cubique, and local Kasi FM deejay, DJ MXO. Over and above the complimentary tastings at the various stalls, visitors will be able to buy merchandise at cellar prices.
A selection of scrumptious eats will complement the beverages, including freshly baked breads, a selection of cheeses, olives, oysters and cold meats.
Tickets for the festival are priced at R120 a person and includes a wine glass for tastings and printed wine guide. VIP tickets are R350 per person and include a snack platter, two bottles of wine (red and white), a stylish cap, wine glasses and a wine guide.
The gate will open at 5pm on Friday and at 11am on both Saturday and Sunday.
