Tickets are on sale at Computicket

The Afrikaans adaptation of Ray Cooney and John Chapman’s acclaimed West End farce, There Goes the Bride, will be staged in South Africa for the first time at Carnival City’s Mardi Gras Theatre from July 6 to 19.

Translated and adapted into Afrikaans by Frans Swart with a delightfully local flavour, Daa’ Gaat die Bruid!, is a side-splitting show about a young girl’s forthcoming marriage and attitudes about premarital sex.

In the cast are South African actors and actresses including Ana van Achterbergh, Cobus Venter, Debrè Rossouw, Edrien Erasmus, Gert van Tonder, Lieb Bester, Marga van Rooy and Phillru van Achterbergh.

The story begins on the morning of Judy’s wedding (Debrè Rossouw) when her father, Malan Ackerman, played by Cobus Venter, gets banged on the head. He awakes to find himself in the company of Polly Playtex, a 1920s Flapper girl straight out of his current advertising campaign.

Daa’ Gaat die Bruid!,will unravel on stage at 8pm from Tuesday to Saturday, with shows at 3pm on the Saturday and Sunday afternoons as well.

Tickets are on sale at Computicket.
